Lost Souls walkthrough homemade haunted house 2010 in my front yard Part2 of 3.
October 17, 2011 by admin · 25 Comments
This is part 2 of my walk thru haunted house. Next year it will be bigger and take up my neighbors front yard. These structures I made are 7foot tall and 8 foot wide from 1x2s and 2x2 and cost a total of around 50 bucks each to make. And are light weight and don't take much room to store. They held up well with all the high winds we get in October in the midwest. Our location is O'Fallon IL. Look at more pics at illinoishauntedyards on facebook.

@sean2374 Look up Scary Terry.com for ideals on wiper motor props,my biggest problem was drop cords,I have almost 30 running all over, and have to have them outta the way so kids/ppl wont trip or grab em,i also had ppl run through the cheap plastic walls, they r lookin behind them and run full force through 3-4 walls, lmao,I also padded hard conors and trees near paths and door ways.Halloween Mania also has sum plans and ideals for props.utube wont allow me to post the sites, google their names.
@sean2374 wiper motors from saturn cars are the same as ones sold online for props, they cost about 20$or sum junk yards will sell em used for $5 each you take em off.Keep the pig tails,a friend owns a garage and I get motors from cars heading to the crusher for free.I need more moving props due to lack of helpers,i made alot of pull string props a few yrs ago outta latches and screen door pistons, they had to be reset and broke down alot.I also use old oscillating fan motors for moving heads etc.
@donttrustsnowmen I did a kicking hangman but I used a neck messager and the motor burned out. I need to play around with the windshield wipers because there are so many different props made from them. Did you get yours from monster guts? And as far as jigsaws even if it doesn't shack the prop the noise itself scares people.
Thanks for the videos,I have a old jig saw and may make the electric chair guy this year,,I got a wiper motor today,,been working on a hanging prop I hope to have him finished this week and start setting up the walls and getting my props out.Every year we plan on Not doing it,but every year seems to get better..keep up the good work.
@VideoProductionsJEJ I recommend them but try to keep them away from people. You can go to spirit, halloween express, halloween city. If you want to try to build your own you can try monsterguts. For ideas on how to build your own try a youtube search or halloweenforum.
But I always recommend actors over props. I think props set the scene and actors set the scene and scare people easier then props.
do you reccommend animatronics if so where should i get them
@sean2374 thanks alot i really appreciate it
@VideoProductionsJEJ I got the strobes and fog machines at the chain halloween stores the day after halloween when they are half off. That's the time to stock up for next year but go to spirits website and they always have coupons. If you get strobes and fog machines don't bother with the small ones its always better to go bigger. And my animatronics like the flying crank ghost and the kicking hangman I got the ideas off of you tube so just do a homemade halloween prop search.
WHERE DO YOU BUY YOUR STROBE LIGHTS AND FOG MACHINES AND ANIMATRONICS CAN YOU HELP ME IM ON A BUDGET
@covefive Actually I tried pallets at first and didn't like them. My wall are probably more of a pain in the butt with storing them but I like them. You are right I had no problem getting pallets for free.
I like the electric chair thats great and very similar to stuff I've done. Cheap suggest that I do for the walls is pallet walls. generally they are free at your local lumber yard. I fasten them together and use them year after year. I make them in 2 and 3 foot sections for different configurations.
I must say that is pretty ingenious using that jig saw!!
a weave this keeps each stalk from moving around. You do want to take the ears of corn off because this will weight it down and make it top heavy. In a week I will make a video on how to do it.
I get 2x2s from Home Depot and cut them in half so I have two 4 foot pieces. Then I take each piece and cut points on one end then drive them into the ground with a post driver. It is always best to wait till after it rains. Then I take wax string and wrap around the wood a couple inches off the ground and go post to post. Then I wrap a couple of inches off the top from post to post a couple of times with the top.
Then I add each corn stalk, with each stalk I twist the top wax string to make
how do u do the corn maze part (beggining) like how did you keep it in the ground plz help me
My best advice to anyone is to start off small and trust me your haunt will start growing. I stock up the day after Halloween because its all at least 50 percent off at all the stores. And don't be afraid to build your own props because the ones you make will last a lot longer then the store bought ones. I have been working on my haunt for six years. Another thing you can find great cheap stuff at yard sales or thrift stores.
Hey dude i do something like you too Im a kid and Do you have any advice or ideas you can give me
Thank you very much, you know us haunters have to get started early. I almost have the rest of my new walls built for the new sections in my haunted house. By watching other peoples videos I get some good ideas. I am going to post a new video on how I make my walls. It only costs like 50 bucks to build a 8 foot by 8 foot room that can be taken down and easily moved and stored.
everything looked awesome! glad to see im not the only one looking up halloween stuff in August lol
Go to wal mart to the paint dept they sell 10 foot by 20 foot black plastic sheets for like 9 dollars. It is think enough where it takes a lot to poke your finger through it. This material you can use every year. At home depot they sell it in longer sections and sometimes its cheaper but walmart is the cheapest place I found it.
What did you use to cover the walls? My friend suggested that we black garbage bags down the seems tape them to the ceiling of my garage.
good creativity man
i need to go through this haunted house
Go to the yard sales or thirt stores you can get a cheap one there. And new one is less then 20 bucks.
Nice tutorial and haunt! I haven't heard of the jigsaw idea before, i seems like it would scare great. Thanks for posting!
